Produced by Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, the Mirabillis Grande Reserva white and red wines are two icons of the Douro region.
The word Mirabiilis has its origin in Latin and means something wonderful, being also the name of a flower of the subtropics of the Americas and the famous species Welwitchia mirabilis of Africa.
Mirabillis wines are born from the desire to go further. The preservation of viticulture and innovation in oenology result in sublime, precise and highly sophisticated wines, revealing a raw material of excellence.
Mirabilis White is a sublime, smooth and crunchy wine in the mouth, made from grapes from small old vines where Viosinho and Gouveio predominate, but also many other varieties of very scarce production, already almost non-existent in the region.
The small bunches, tight, and single berries, mean that production per hectare is not high (about 2 2300 kg), in soils above 500 meters, geologically classified as schist/granite transition soils, giving the musts an impressive genuineness.
The selected wood is second and third year, only a small percentage of new wood, so as not to mark and slowly integrate the intense fruit, focusing mainly on French and Hungarian oak, resulting in a wine of extreme elegance, where freshness and acidity are intertwined.
Mirabilis Red is inspired by the line of the world's great wines, where textures, aromas, gravity and transparency are created.
It is an unrepeatable wine, unrepeatable year after year, with a heterogeneous composition of small quantities, a few litres of each of the best barrels, passing through a long tasting skill until the final result.
Mirabilis Tinto mirrors the most profound wine-making years of Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, and is reflected in a wine that is dense, intense in aromas, three-dimensional, of enormous physical persistence, deep and very precise.
A wine that goes beyond our comprehension... and, with calm, approaches human maturity.
